In this post I share why I am choosing to seek treatment with healers and sacred medicines in Peru.

I have experienced depression, anxiety, and low self-worth throughout my lifetime.  As outlined on my main campaign page, four years ago I experienced a major depressive episode and I am currently experiencing another depressive episode.  My current experience has been stronger and more difficult to face; feeling hopelessness and overwhelm, wanting to hide out and push people away while questioning life and death.

Despite this depressive experience, there is a stronger light in my soul that knows that I am worthy of healing and living a powerful and fulfilled life.  Although I have received support through doctors, several healing modalities and practitioners in my community, and family and friends that has only provided me with temporary relief of symptoms.

I am being called to go to a healing center in Iquitos, Peru.  This center will support me with healing on a deep level; transforming the dis-empowering belief systems and subconscious habits that have me repeat the same destructive patterns and cycles which keep me stuck and which no longer serve me.  See the center website for more information:  http://www.cayashobo.com/about-vision

The healers at this center work with sacred plant medicines and have achieved profound results in treating numerous modern illnesses including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, certain cancers, and many other physical, mental and emotional ailments affecting the world’s population today.  A close friend of mine has done this work for years while healing her cancer and has achieved extraordinary results physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  I was introduced to this work while in Peru 2 years ago and have experienced much transformation since that time.  I found it very effective, however had limited time to do the work; 4-5 weeks will allow me to work closely with the sacred medicine and focus completely on my healing.

A renowned speaker, and bestselling author, Dr. Gabor Maté who is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, mental illness, stress and childhood development quoted in an article about the sacred medicine:  “In its proper ceremonial setting, under compassionate and experienced guidance, the plant—or, as tradition has it, the spirit of the plant—puts people in touch with their repressed pain and trauma, the very factors that drive all dysfunctional behaviors. Consciously experiencing our primal pain loosens its hold on us. Thus may this medicine achieve in a few sittings what many years of psychotherapy can only aspire to.  It may also allow people to re-experience inner qualities long been missing in action, such as wholeness, trust, love and a sense of possibility. People quite literally remember themselves.”

This type of treatment has been used for many years in Eastern traditions and I feel called to this approach for my healing.  I welcome any questions you may have.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of those who have supported me through financial contributions, your listening, understanding and compassion, sharing my story / fundraising campaign and by offering me your LOVE.  I am deeply grateful for all of your support!

Much gratitude and Many blessings,

Giselle
